A Boer war medal pair to 4877 Private Edward Attreed, Essex Regt, who died from drowning whilst serving in the first world war.
Queen's South Africa Medal (Clasps - Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast) named to 4877 Pte. E. Attreed, 1st Essex Regt.
King's South Africa Medal (Clasps - South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902) named to 4887 Pte. A. Attreed. Essex Regt.
Please note that there is a mistake to his initial on the KSA. It reads A Attreed in stead of E Attreed.
The QSA has a loose pin on the suspender connecting the clasps. Please see photos.
Private Attreed was born in West Ham, Essex.
After serving with the Essex Regiment in the Boer War, he served with the Army Service Corps in WW1. He first entered France on 30/10/1914 but drowned on 05/11/1914.
Also entitled to a 1914 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.
