A first world war LS&GC to 343754 James Edward Lakeman, Leading Carpener's Crew, Royal Navy.

George V Royal Navy Long Service & Good Conduct Medal named to 343754 J.E. Lakeman, Lg. Car. Cr. H.M.S. Impregnable.

Entitled to a first world war trio.

Lakeman served on HMS Dublin from 11/03/1913 to 11/04/1914 and then 01/07/1914 to 05/10/1916.

HMS Dublin was a Chatham Light Cruiser that took part in the search for the Goeben and the Breslau in 1914, the early stages of the Gallipoli campaign and the Battle of Jutland.

In May 1915 HMS Dublin was sent to Brindisi and was damaged by a torpedo from Austro-Hungarian Navy submarine U-4 on 09/06/1915. During the Battle of Jutland she fired 117 6 inch shells and, along with Southampton, attacked and sank a destroyer. Both ships, however, sustained severe damage.

The medal is in good condition with ribbon.

Comes with copy of service and brief history of HMS Dublin.
