L.G. 3rd June 1919 and 11th March 1920
'For conspicuous gallantry in action during September, October and November, 1918, and especially on the night of the 8th November, when with a convoy of ammunition wagons proceeding to a position south of Tieghem. On arriving at the position the first wagon was hit by a shell, causing casualties to men and horses. Although seriously wounded, he extricated men from amongst the wounded horses and got the position cleared without further casualties.'
Nelson was wounded in action on three occasions. Gassed 9/8/17, gassed again 22/5/18 and gun shot wound (back) 9/11/18.
The medals are in good condition.
