Sykes was commissioned into the 3rd Dragoon Guards on 16/12/1914. He was then commissioned as a Captain into the Indian Army on 11/01/1917 and served with the 6th King Edward's Own Cavalry in 1919. He served in the Palestine campaign North West Frontier of India 1930-31 with the Indian Army service Corps. During the second world war he served in Egypt, North africa and NW Europe and was mentioned in despatches on 23/06/1943 (Middle East). He ended up as a T. Brigadier.
The medals are in good condition and are swing mounted for wear. They come in a box but this is damaged. Also comes with a large portrait of Sykes in uniform done in oils on canvas. This measures approx. 65cm x 57cm with the frame.
