Citation for Military Medal:
'Sgt. Moreton is Pl Sgt of a 4.2" Mortar Pl., and has shown consistent courage and steadfastness throughout the Italian campaign. As an instance, on night 16/17 April 45 on the way up to position to support the attack on ARGENTA, two of the platoon's vehicles containing a section of mortars were held up by very heavy shell and mortar fire 500 yds short of the position. Sgt. Moreton reccied an alternative route on foot for the drivers and crews and despatched them to the mortar position, an then himself drove the first veh. through the fire on to the position and then returned on foot and drove in the second veh. All mortars were thus in action on time. Throughout the night, the position was engaged by enemy guns and mortars, but Sgt. Moreton retained complete control of the situation and excellent supporting fire was given.
This N.C.O. has always been in the thick of the fighting, encouraging his men, supervising the fire, and showing a consistency of courage, leadership and devotion to duty which is beyond praise.'

The group comes with original box of issue for the MM including original outer box and King's letter, original MID certificate, photograph of the recipient, miniature medal ribon bar and copy of the citation and London Gazette entries.
