General Service Medal (Clasp - Palestine 1945-48) named to 14339524 Gnr. P.G. Phillips. R.A.
Gunner Phillips enlisted into the General Servic Corps on 19/11/1942. He transferred to the R.F.A. in December 1942 and was posted to the 16th Medium Regt R.A. in March 1943. The unit re-designated to the 107Medium Regt R.A. in March 1944. On the 24/11/1945 Phillips was posted to the 3 Reserve Regt and was attached to RA Wing 23/01/1946. He was posted to 300 A/L Anti-Tank Battery in May 1946, which became the 9th Airborne Anti-Tank Battery R.A. in April 1947. He was discharged on 16/03/1953.
The group comes with M.O.D. statement of service which has a hand written note on the bottom which reads: 'Phillips stated that he was at Arnhem - and escaped over the river on the last night. 24 Sept 1944.'. Also includes two photocopied photographs of Phillips wearing a South Notts Hussars badge and shoulder titles.
The medals are in good condition with ribbons.
