The medals are in good condition and are court mounted for wear. Comes with RHF cap badge.
The 1 RHF were deployed in clearing up and accounting for casualties of the Lockerbie Disaster on December 21, 1988. 270 died in the disaster, the victims along a 80 mile corridor covering 845 square miles. Many of the young soldiers were to suffer PTSD through this experience.
The Royal Highland Fusiliers were part of the 7th Armoured Brigade in Kuwait and primarily used to guard prisoners of war.
From the service number we can establish the enlistment date as 1985.
Between 1974 and 1991, the regiment was sent on seven postings to Northern Ireland.
Deployed to Belize in 1978, and to Bosnia for peacekeeping duties in 1994. One company returned to the Balkans in 1999, this time to Macedonia and Kosovo as well as Bosnia.
