France. Medal for Bravery to Xavier Blay

Ministry of the Interior medal for Bravery in bronze. Awarded to X. Blay, a railway employee. Bornin 1895 Xavier Blay was working for the SNCF (railways) when the bronze award was gazetted in the Journal of the French Republic in 1948. So far is has not been possible to find the reason for the award.This medal was given for distinguished service in addition to acts of bravery. With additional research showing Blay was a WW1 veteran.
