Description

A GSM (Palestine) and WW2 medal group of five awarded to 6009317 Private Thomas Joseph Kelly, 2nd Bn. Essex Regiment. 

General Service Medal (Clasp – Palestine) named to 6009317 Pte. T.J. Kelly. Essex. R. 
1939-45 Star unnamed as issued 
Africa Star unnamed as issued 
WW2 Defence Medal unnamed as issued 
War Medal 1939-45 unnamed as issued 

Died at Home – 1st January 1943

Kelly originally served with the 1st Bn Essex Regiment in Palestine. During WW2, he saw service in North Africa, where he would have seen action during the attack at Gallabat, Sudan against the Italians in November 1940. 

Kelly returmned at some point to the UK, presumably of wounds,  where he died on the 1st January 1943. whilst nominally serving with the 2nd Battalion, Essex Regiment. 

The medals are in good condition and are mounted court style for display.
