Description

An original example of the Type A 1870 Iron Cross 2nd class. The iron core shows great detail to the devices on both sides, and retains strong original blackening to the surface. The ring eyelet, that retains the unmarked suspension ring, is only attached to one side, as is correct for this type. The visible seam gap shows that no repairs have been made to the frame.

47,244 Iron Cross 2nd class medals were awarded to combatant and non-combatants during the 1870-1871 Franco-Prussian War.
