WWII type Purple Heart with serial number 132486 on the rim. Together with uniform pin-on ribbon bar and enamel lapel badge, contained in “coffin” style box of issue.
The medal was awarded to Private William Rupert Bruner, Company C, 11th Armoured Infantry Battalion, 1st Armoured Division who was wounded in June 1944 in Italy.
William Rupert Bruner was born November 26, 1911 in Ashford Alabama. He was a City Fireman on enlistment on December 12, 1942, he served as an Enlisted Private Infantryman in Company C, 11th Armoured Infantry Battalion. He was wounded by artillery shell fragments whilst on active service in Italy in June 1944, and was released from military service on November 14, 1945. Post-war William was an agent for State Farm Insurance. William passed away in Dothan Huston Alabama in 1975 age 63 years.
