2nd Lt. Douglas Wade Emery, R.F.A., Spec. Res.
‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During an intense hostile shelling of his battery, he with an N.C.O. rushed out and extinguished two burning ammunition dumps and the camouflage of a gun. By this prompt and gallant action they saved the whole of the ammunition and guns, which would certainly have been destroyed, the high wind at the time being in favour of the flames. His gallantry and disregard of danger set a fine example to the remainder of the battery.’
The medals are in good condition and are swing mounted for wear.
