London Gazette: 23rd July 1919 (M.M.)
The citation states:
  ‘No.103043 L/Sgt Wm Wareham. On his Section Sgt becoming a casualty, this N.C.O. at one assumed command of his Section, which he commanded with the greatest skill and initiative throughout the operations. 
  On 6-11-1918 near LA FLAMENGRIE he led his Section forward on his own initiative, under heavy artillery and close range Machine gun fire and, entirely by the example of leadership and complete disregard of danger which he displayed, he was able in spite of the casualties sustained, to bring his Section into action in an exposed position, thereby silencing and enemy Machine gun.’
