The medals are in good condition and come with Army Condolence slip to “Gr F. CORY”, contained in box of issue for the medals from the Officer i/c Royal Artillery Records addressed to his wife, Mrs D.E. Cole, 213 Burges Rd. East Ham, London. E.6. (she remarried).
1775896 Gunner Frederick Cory is listed on the Commonwealth Ward Graves Commission website as being killed on November 22, 1944, whilst serving with 67th Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery, and is buried in Imphal Cemetery India. 3.B.21. Age 38 years, the son of Charles and Eleanor Cory, husband of Dorothy Eliza Cory of Romford, Essex.
The Imphal Cemetery is on the border of Upper Burma. The fighting with the Japanese around Kohima and Imphal was noted as being intense.
Various reports have him listed as being killed accidentally in Burma.
