A second world war casualty medal group awarded to Chief Engineer Officer David Rose, Merchant Navy, S.S. Nurmahal (London), who was sadly killed in action on 11th November 1942 when S.S. Nurmahal was hit by two torpedoes.

The medals are in good condition and come with original box of issue and condolence slip. 

David Rose was from Greenock, Renfrewshire. 

He was onboard SS Nurmahal when it was hit amidships by two torpedoes from U-154 and sank in less than 30 seconds about 300 miles east of Martinique. The U-boat investigated the sinking location, but found no survivors. The master, 83 crew members and four gunners were lost.
