A first world war casualty medal group awarded for 201536 Private Arthur Hughes, 1st/4th Battalion Hampshire Regiment, who was sadly killed in action at the crossing of the River Tigris on 23/2/1917 and is remembered at Basra Memorial.

Killed in Action - 23rd February 1917 

Private Arthur Hughes was from Winchfield, Hampshire. 

He was killed in action during the crossing of the River Tigris. This action was a prelude to the recapture of Kut-el-Amara on the 24th February 1917. 

The medals are in good condition.
