A first world war possible first day of the Somme casualty medal group awarded to 24396 Private William Parkinson, 10th Bn. York & Lancaster Regiment, who was sadly killed in action between the 1st and 3rd July 1916 at the Battle of the Somme. Remembered at Thiepval Memorial.

Killed in Action - 1st to 3rd July 1916
William Parkinson was born in Doncaster and lived in Barnsley.
He is listed in the 10th Battalion war diary as missing during the fighting 1/7/1916 - 3/7/1916 with it being later amended to "Killed". His medal roll entry states that he was killed in action on 1st July 1916 but CWGC list him as killed on the 3rd July 1916.
The medals are in good condition. Comes with research.
