Killed In Action - 30th April 1943 (Tower Hill Memorial)
Thompson was onboard M.V. Port Victor when it was by torpedoes fired from U-107. The ship was carrying 65 passengers (including 23 women and children). After the first torpedo hit, the crew made the lifeboats ready to be launched but was hit again in the bow , destroying two life boats and killing the occupants. Overall, twelve crew members, two gunners and five passengers were lost including Joseph Lawrence Thompson.
The medals are in good condition with ribbons.
