Killed in Action - 16th July 1916 (Essex Farm Cemetery)
William Bowtell was born in Ongar, Essex on the 27th November 1898. His eldest brother is recorded as serving with the 1st Bn. Northumberland Fusiliers. William attested in to the Grenadier Guards and served with the 1st Battalion in France from 27th October 1915, still underage at 16 years and 11 months.
He was killed in action on the 16th July 1916 aged just 17 years and 9 months.
The medals are in good condition with original ribbons.
