A second world war medal group with original documents to 2nd Officer Basil Arthur John Trail, Merchant Navy who later became a 2nd Lieutenant in the Home Guard.

Basil Arthur John Trail was born on 25/12/1921 in Dene, Newcastle Upon Tyne. During the second world war he served as a 2nd Officer on board S.S. Cromarty between 11/11/43 to 11/08/44. In December 1952 he was appointed as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Home Guard.
The group comes with his original Apprentice's Indenture, his Navigators and Engineers Officers Union Membership handbook, Continuous Certificate of Discharge, WW2 medal entitlement slip and award notification letter, original Commission document for his appointment to 2nd Lt in the Home Guard and a copy of a recommendation letter.
