A second world war Japanese POW casualty medal group of five awarded to 4857838 Lance Corporal Herbert Ellis, Leicestershire Regiment / 352 Field Security Section, Intelligence Corps, who sadly died on 9/11/43 and is remembered at Kanchanaburi War Cemetery.

Lance Corporal Herbert Ellis was captured by the Japanese at the Fall of Singapore, 15th February 1942, and taken prisoner of war. He was imprisoned in Thailand and died of dysentery on 9th November 1943.
