Citation for MM (Immediate Award):
Initiated 6th May 1945
'Throughout Operations since D Day SGT Campbell has carried out his duties in a most exemplary manner. Over a considerable period, including the Scheldt Pocket and Walcheren Operations. He was acting battery, Sergeant Major. In the Siegfried Line and Rhine Crossing Operations, he was a No. 1. No matter what the difficulties of his 7.2" Howitzer on the Mk1 carriage in bad terrain, or the enemy fire in the gun position area, Sgt Campbell by his strong personality and the cheerful spirit which animated his gun detachment, never failed to give the maximum fire support to the forward troops. It is no exaggeration to say he has been an inspiration to all around him.'

Campbell was transferred to the reserve on 28th November 1945 and discharged in 1954 having reached the upper age limit.

The medals are in good condition and are court mounted for wear.
