M.C. (Immediate) London Gazette: 20th April 1944
Lieutenant George Edward Hudson, 1st Punjab Regiment
'At AHKAUNGBAUKYWA (ARAKAN) on the 25th January 1944 this officer commanded one platoon of A Company and one platoon of D Company. He personally led an assualt on a two platoon front up the eastern slope of FOUR TREE HILL and in the face of intense M.M.G. fire took an enemy post near the crest. A second layer of bunkers, protected by wire, held up the attack and he consolidated the positions taken on the crest. Ammunition was low and his force reduced to one officer, one V.C.O. and twelve men. Ammunition and two sectiond came up to him as he planned another attack. He sited his three L.M.G.s to give covering fire; B Company was ordered to give additional M.M.G. support.

He again led his men onto the objective under intense fire at 12:30 hours. His L and M.M.G. support was unable to neutralise the Japanese M.G. fire taking a heavy toll on his assault party and he was forced to return to his previously consolidated position, which he held for the remainder of the day.

Throughout the day he showed the highest degree od courage. During the assaults his dash and leadership were an inspiration to his Sikhs, who fought magnificently.'

Hudson was promoted to Captain, 2nd July 1948 and then Major on 1st December 1955.

The medals are in good condition and are court mounted for wear. The group also comes with a presentation platter presented to him by the 48th Gurkha Infantry Brigade for his marriage in 1958.
