A second world war and two clasp GSM medal group of five awarded to Corporal Alexander Lowther, who served with the Durham Light Infantry and Royal Scots Fusiliers in WW2, the East Yorkshire Regiment in Palestine and the Royal Military Police in Cyprus.

General Service Medal (Clasps - Palestine 1945-48, Cyprus) named to 14759639 Pte. A. Lowther. E. Yorks.
The F&G Star, War Medal and GSM are swing mounted for wear. The 1939-45 Star and Defence Medal are loose. They came in with the group but his Regular Army Certificate of Service only mentions the three mounted medals. However, there is a photograph of him in uniform wearing a ribbon bar with all five ribbons.
Alexander Lowther was from Mansfield.
He was born in 1926. After turning 18, Lowther joined the Army in 1944 serving with the Durham Light Infantry and Royal Scots Fusiliers. In August 1945, he transferred to the East Yorkshire Regiment and saw service in Palestine.
After being demobilised in 1948, he enlisted into the Royal Military Police in 1953, serving in Austria and Germany before going out to Cyprus in March 1957 until November 1958.
The group comes with his original Regular Army Ceritificate of Service for when he enlisted into the RMP, original ID card, War Department Driving permit, Award Certificate of Education and two small photographs.
