An original 1914 Princess Mary Christmas gift tin with bullet pencil, issued to British and Commonwealth troops during the first Christmas of the Great War. Commissioned by Princess Mary, these tins were part of a national initiative to provide comfort and morale to soldiers on the front lines.
Made from embossed brass, the tin features a profile of Princess Mary, framed by laurel wreaths and Allied symbols.
The bullet pencil is often considered one of the more collectible components of the original set. Crafted to resemble a small rifle cartridge, with a brass casing and a pencil core inside.
This tin is in good condition for its age and comes complete with the original bullet pencil featuring the royal "M" monogram (for Mary) with the cardboard sleeve as issued. Please see the photos for full details.
